Assad’s Tyranny Ends with Syria’s Liberation
Syria has been liberated from Assad’s brutal regime, which spanned more than five decades, after nearly 14 years of steadfast resistance. This victory is a testament to the immense sacrifices of the Syrian people, who have endured unimaginable hardship while maintaining the hope of freedom.
Bashar al-Assad, far from opposing imperialism, was a key ally in the West's "War on Terror". The end of Assad's reign marks the liberation of thousands of prisoners and survivors of torture from his murderous regime’s dungeons, a moment of profound celebration. His prisons claimed over 15,000 lives, a horrifying legacy of oppression that must never be forgotten.
Today, more than 14 million displaced Syrians celebrate the liberation of their homeland, the survival of their brothers and sisters, and the renewed hope of returning to their country.
In this pivotal and long-awaited moment, we honor the courage and resilience of the Syrian people. We pray that this new chapter is one of justice, dignity, and honor.
CAGE has supported the Syrian revolution from its inception and has consistently denounced the Assad regime, highlighted the plight of political prisoners, and exposed the regime’s use of torture. This support led to CAGE losing its bank accounts and for our Senior Director, Moazzam Begg, to spend 7 months in prison before his case collapsed and was declared innocent.
May this victory inspire greater resistance and unwavering resolve in Palestine and beyond, bringing us closer to even more triumphs in the pursuit of justice and freedom.
