Ceasefire Signals the Start of Israel’s Collapse
More than 400 days into the ongoing genocide in Gaza and over a century into the brutal colonial violence perpetuated by Western states in Palestine, a ceasefire agreement has finally been announced.
This development, though undeniably significant, is a testament to the unwavering resistance of the Palestinian people and the steadfast solidarity of those who have supported them. Marking yet another setback for American imperialism and the Zionist settler-colonial project. This includes Pal Action actionists, who have tirelessly worked to materially disrupt the production of genocidal weapons and hold the British state accountable for facilitating the mass killings of Palestinians.
We specifically welcome the agreement's decision to liberate Palestinian political prisoners, including over 1,000 individuals abducted by Israel since 2023 from Gaza. We also acknowledge the second phase, which addresses the release of prisoners already held in captivity. This outcome demonstrates that, despite the mass killings and the billions of dollars invested in this genocide, Israel has ultimately been forced to succumb to the original demands of the Al Aqsa Flood operation.
While this milestone offers a glimmer of hope, true celebration is overshadowed by the devastating loss of over 46,000 confirmed lives, alongside countless others who have been injured, tortured, and traumatized. The magnitude of this atrocity stands as a stark reminder of the profound suffering endured by the Palestinian people.
This achievement underscores a crucial truth: Israel has failed in its military objectives. The resistance and determination of the Palestinian people have laid bare the fragility of a rogue state propped up solely by the support of its Western patrons. This failure has ignited a profound internal crisis within Israel.
This genocide has unmasked the true nature of Western powers and their allies. The world will not forget their blatant and unapologetic support for the world's first live-streamed genocide, nor their relentless gaslighting and vilification of those who stood firmly against injustice and oppression. These actions have rightly permanently undermined the credibility of these states, leaving their reputation on the global stage in tatters.
While this moment marks a pivotal turning point it is merely the beginning. A return to the pre-2023 realities in Gaza and Palestine, marked by siege, apartheid, violence, and dehumanization, cannot be considered progress. True progress and liberation for the Palestinian people will only be achieved through the complete dismantling of these oppressive structures. Anything less will inevitably fuel further resistance from the Palestinian people, who must be recognized as active agents of their own struggle for liberation. To engage with them meaningfully, the British government must take their demands seriously and acknowledge them as legitimate actors in this fight for justice.
