ICC Warrants Mark the End of the International Rules Based Order
London – The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced its intent to seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and three leaders of Hamas.
This is a long overdue micro measure in prosecuting the perpetrators of a live-streamed genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza. The architects of this brutal display of high tech murder and violence are the entirety of Israel’s political and military leadership and its western backers.
The ICC has an established track record of being an entity that serves the interests of western powers. Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) omitted any mention of Genocide as well as the history of violence and occupation by the settler colonial apartheid state of Israel.
In the surreal world of the ICC, time only began on 7 October and the entire premise of the ICC, against all the evidence witnessed by the world, is that there is a two sided genocide – the victims and their executioners are in the same category .
This framing of the arrest warrants in this manner allows not only the entire Israeli war cabinet to escape scrutiny , such as the avowedly racist Itamar Ben Gvir but also western politicians , Israeli commentators and media who have justified , supported and provided active cover for the massacre of 36,000 Palestinians. Khan and his gang of western trained advisers knew that any charges relating to genocide would require State Parties:
“To take measures to prevent and to punish the crime of genocide, including by enacting relevant legislation and punishing perpetrators, whether they are constitutionally responsible rulers, public officials or private individuals.” - Article IV Genocide Convention.
Consequently the focus had to be on Netanyahu , Gallant and Hamas , to diminish and cover up western political support for the settler colonial project . The deception was designed to ignore the structural violence of every Israeli administration since 1947 and its western backers , and instead focus on the actions of two disturbed dispensable evil individuals . According to the ICC analysis , the ongoing apartheid, occupation and genocide that underpin the human catastrophe unfolding in Gaza is not worthy of mention.
The inclusion of Hamas leaders in the same arrest warrant application feeds the myth that the war crimes are the inevitable consequences of an “ongoing conflict” between adversaries. This narrative hides the realities of a genocide being carried out by a brutal racist state armed and supported with the most lethal modern weaponry by its western backers and supporters.
However, the world has seen through the hypocrisy and deceit . Those who facilitate and support the ongoing starvation and massacre are complicit and must be held accountable for their role in the Genocide . This dishonest attempt to protect its apartheid creation only accelerates the complete destruction of the international legal order.
The UK and other governments cannot escape prosecution under the Genocide Convention. Government ministers must now face investigations for their support of Israel. Their complicity, through arms sales, UN vetoes and diplomatic backing, has directly contributed to the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.
There must be an immediate halt of all arms sales to Israel. Companies such as Elbit Systems, which have operations in the UK, must be shut down for their role in aiding and abetting the genocide against Palestinians. These measures are minimum steps toward ending the cycle of ethnic cleansing faced by Palestinians for over seven decades.
The war machine and its supporters have achieved nothing but the destruction of the illusion that they so often abused to deceive the world – that there was a rules based international legal order that could offer a respite from the oppression unleashed by the western world . The latest ICC act and the ongoing Genocide is the final nail in that coffin for those who are still hold that deluded belief.
