Police launch wave of raids to suppress the anti-genocide movement
London - Counter-terrorism police have raided and arrested 10 more people connected to Palestine Action across the UK. The house raids and arrests are the latest in a series of attempts by the British state to suppress those taking action against genocide.
The arrests are linked to the 'Filton 10' case—ten actionists arrested and detained since August 6, 2024, following an action that targeted Elbit Systems – which as Israel’s largest manufacturer sits at the heart of its killing operational structure . The Filton 10 were arrested and held under terrorism powers, though the charges brought against them are non-terror related. This use of terrorism labels is an attempt to incite and exploit prejudices to facilitate the British state role as a leading member of the first genocide to be livestreamed in history.
These developments, alongside the highly controversial arrests and charges against journalists and campaigners under terrorism powers, accentuate the call by Cage for the urgent need to abolish any laws that criminalise the expression of humanity and compassion against a genocide.
Naila Ahmed, Head of Campaigns at CAGE International, said:
The British government continues to build an infrastructure of authoritarian laws.
This is beyond a question of complicity; the UK police are now acting as an extension of a genocidal entity, abusing and exploiting any and every power at their disposal to intimidate and crush resistance to the mass killing of humans in Gaza.
CAGE International continues to provide support to the Filton10 and those arrested in this coordinated attack on actionists. We stand in solidarity with Pal Action and all those who take a stance against injustice.
