At a time when Islamophobia, immigration and identity feature in our daily news, Amina MWRC’s annual conference seeks to explore opportunities to tackle extremism and Islamophobia in Scotland. Join us for an informative and interactive day of talks, discussions and workshops.
Speakers include :
Moazzam Begg, former Guantanamo Bay detainee and Outreach Director at CAGE
Kate Botterill, Edinburgh Napier University
DCC Stephen Allen, Police Scotland / Scottish Government
The workshops in the afternoon will focus on the following topics:
- Police Scotland's Third Party Reporting campaign: what has happened and how can it be improved to deal better with Hate Crime and Islamophobia
- The emotional and wellbeing impact of Islamophobia and its effects on health
- How Islamophobia can be tackled in education
- Dealing with Islamophobia in day-to-day life, and Amina-MWRC's campaign to for an Islamophobia Action Plan
Lunch is included, and travel and childcare costs for Muslim women will be reimbursed. A bus is being organised from Dundee, with a pick-up in Perth. Let us know if you require a seat on this bus.
